This year, we once again delivered a lecture on AIDS prevention at Ginan-Higashi Elementary School. Although the children were familiar with influenza and COVID-19, it seemed to be the first time they had heard the terms 'HIV' and 'AIDS', which are also infectious diseases. It was impressive to see how earnestly they answered the questions we posed.
Although the children seemed a little apprehensive at first, by the question-and-answer session in the second half, many hands were raised, and it was clear they had developed an interest in HIV/AIDS and infectious diseases.
